Lightening up life a few words at a time

Apple of my I

I was captivated by that phrase uttered on this morning’s news following the announcement of Steve Jobs’ death. I think it was actually a tweet. Bravo to the author. It really touched me.

In the past few months, I’ve lost three “apples of my eye.” I’m still figuring out what life is going to be like without them. Like Steve Jobs, each was a visionary in his or her own way.

The first was an artist who shared his gift with the developmentally disabled. The next was an extraordinary caregiver who had a magnificent knack for delivering the right words and the right deeds at precisely the right time. The next was an exceptional educator who touched countless lives with quiet humor and great strength.

I’m thankful that it’s apple season. In tribute, I’ll remember to take a bite out of life. Crunch!
